Stephen J. Coates and N. Gary Sowards formed Coates & Sowards, Inc. in 1977 to specialize in fee management. Prior to this time, both individuals had been regional property managers for a large west coast full-service real estate firm. They believed that there was a need for a smaller, aggressive real estate company to provide personalized management services.
Since 1977 Coates & Sowards, Inc. has managed over 5,000,000 square feet of shopping centers, industrial buildings, and office buildings, providing quality management services to businesses and individuals throughout Northern California. Coates & Sowards, Inc. was conceived during the growth boom in Silicon Valley.
The prime concentration of activity at Coates & Sowards, Inc. is shopping centers, followed by industrial buildings and suburban office buildings. Although the focus is on property management, we are a full-service real estate firm that allows us to handle leasing, sales and acquisition, and other real estate services for our clients.
Coates & Sowards, Inc. works closely with owners who appreciate a long-term commitment and wish to establish a business relationship with the firm’s principals. Because of the extensive, full-time property management experience at Coates & Sowards, Inc., we have been selected, on many occasions, to be expert witnesses and/or court-appointed receivers.
